ATLANTA, GA (February 11, 2020) – Kindred at Home, the nation’s largest home health, community care and hospice provider – has named Christine Spadafor, JD, ScM, RN to its Board of Directors, the company announced today. Ms. Spadafor will chair the board’s Quality and Compliance Committee.
“Christine Spadafor brings more than twenty-five years of leadership in strategic planning, operations, risk management and regulatory initiatives,” said David Causby, CEO of Kindred at Home. “Christine’s background in healthcare, business, and law provides a unique perspective that will be invaluable to Kindred at Home’s board, our staff and the patients we serve.”
A graduate of Harvard Law School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Spadafor is a former partner in The Boston Consulting Group. She is CEO of SpadaforClay Group, a Harvard Square management consulting firm she founded in 2004. “America’s transition from inpatient care to comprehensive at-home and community care is a significant trend–and the associated healthcare challenges are dynamic and complex,” Spadafor said. “Kindred at Home embraces this complexity with innovation and a patient-centric focus. That’s a mission I can get excited about,” she continued.
A former Intensive Care Unit nurse, Spadafor went on to build a portfolio of healthcare expertise: In addition to her public health master’s degree, she co-authored a book on occupational health; she became General Counsel at a pediatric hospital; she was a public health advisor to the United Nations in China; and for nearly ten years she was CEO of a nonprofit for homeless and abused children. In recognition of her contributions to vulnerable and at-risk populations, Spadafor has been awarded honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degrees.
With expertise in board governance, Spadafor has served on the Board of Directors for Boyd Gaming Corporation since 2009, where she is the Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee. She also is Board Advisor to Synapse, a nonprofit organization providing social support networks for persons with brain injuries. Previously, Spadafor served as a Board Director for the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute at UCLA and the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Spadafor is a commentator on BBC World Service’s “Business Matters” broadcast—a global news program reaching listeners worldwide. She is a frequent speaker at professional events and leading universities, including American Medical Group Association; Young Presidents Organization; Harvard Medical School; Harvard Business School; Harvard Kennedy School, and others. Since 2012, Spadafor has been a lecturer in the Visiting Executive Program at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
